Dr. Marzieh Azarderakhsh
Dr. Marzieh Azarderakhsh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering Technology at CUNY New York City College of Technology and a researcher with the CUNY Remote Sensing Earth System Institute (CREST). She earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the CUNY Graduate Center in 2011, completing her doctoral research in collaboration with CUNY CREST.
Dr. Azarderakhsh brings a diverse background in both academia and applied engineering. Her professional experience includes the structural design of concrete facilities, modeling surface water dynamics, and designing infrastructure for flood control. She served for eight years as an assistant and then associate professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, following a three-year postdoctoral appointment with Cross Road Initiatives. In Fall 2024, she returned to CUNY to continue her research and teaching.
Her research focuses on the applications of remote sensing in environmental and climate science. She has worked on projects related to monitoring lake water quality, studying global land surface temperatures, wetlands analysis, and freeze-thaw cycle detection. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including several in collaboration with CUNY CREST scientists.
