This PhD program integrates UN-related research and fulfills Civil Engineering Department requirements, with a focus on sustainability, climate resilience, and urban systems.

Program Requirements:

  • Research: Focus on UN challenges (e.g., climate adaptation, water resource management, disaster resilience).
  • Co-Mentor: UN-affiliated co-mentor required for research guidance.
  • Doctoral Committee: Must include a UNU-affiliated faculty member (Or a member of other UNU-Hub Institutes).
  • Internship: Complete an internship at a UN agency or related facility.

Courses (9 Extra Credits (waiver option if already taken)):

  • Policy Related course from Colin Powell School for Civic And Global Leadership (emphasis)
  • Remote Sensing for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Data Science and GIS for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
